Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding ties with Kuwait and promoting peace in the region during a meeting with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

According to an official statement, the prime minister described Pakistan and Kuwait as brotherly nations bound by shared values and mutual trust, saying the two countries had always stood by each other in times of difficulty and prosperity.

PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s full solidarity with the leadership and people of Kuwait and strongly condemned attacks carried out against Kuwait and other brotherly Gulf countries during the ongoing regional conflict.

He said Pakistan was playing the role of an honest and sincere mediator and facilitator to help restore peace in the region, and thanked the Kuwaiti leadership for supporting Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts.

Discussing bilateral relations, the prime minister expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan-Kuwait ties and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, information technology, maritime affairs and workforce development.

He also appreciated the Kuwaiti government’s generous hospitality towards the Pakistani community and praised the valuable contribution of Pakistani expatriates to Kuwait’s social and economic development.

During the meeting, Sheikh Jarrah conveyed best wishes from the Kuwaiti leadership to the prime minister and reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister also commended Pakistan’s efforts to restore regional peace, particularly acknowledging the role of PM Shehbaz, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

According to the statement, both leaders underscored the importance of continued consultations and close coordination on issues of mutual interest, particularly in the context of bilateral relations.
