Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Monday met two members of the US House of Representatives at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where both sides discussed regional security, bilateral defence cooperation and ways to expand economic ties between Pakistan and the United States.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visiting delegation comprised Congressman Ryan Keith Zinke of Montana and Congressman Michael James of Washington.

The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, bilateral defence cooperation and avenues for enhancing economic collaboration and shared prosperity.

During the meeting, Field Marshal Munir highlighted Pakistan’s vast economic potential, saying sustainable regional stability is closely linked to economic growth, trade expansion and greater regional connectivity.

He also outlined Pakistan’s ongoing structural reforms to create a business-friendly environment and attract foreign investment, adding that the country offers significant opportunities for economic growth.

The US lawmakers acknowledged Pakistan’s important role in promoting regional stability and economic resilience. They also discussed prospects for expanding bilateral economic engagement, strengthening private-sector partnerships and enhancing trade relations between the two countries.

According to the ISPR, the visiting delegation thanked Pakistan’s military leadership for its warm hospitality and reaffirmed a shared commitment to deepening economic, commercial and institutional links between the United States and Pakistan.
