Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism and defeat foreign-sponsored proxy groups in Balochistan, saying sustained operations by security forces and law enforcement agencies would bring lasting peace to the province.

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) made the remarks while interacting with participants of the 20th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Addressing the participants, the army chief said consistent efforts by security forces and law enforcement agencies, backed by the unwavering support of the people, would restore lasting peace in Balochistan.

He reaffirmed that targeted operations against Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan would continue with full resolve until terrorism and its facilitators were eliminated from Pakistan.

The Field Marshal also reiterated Pakistan’s determination to dismantle terrorist infrastructure wherever it poses a threat to the country and its people.

He said foreign-sponsored proxy groups had persistently sought to fuel violence, undermine stability and disrupt peace in Balochistan, but stressed that their “nefarious designs” would be defeated through a firm and decisive response by the armed forces, supported by the resilience and unity of the Pakistani people.

Describing Balochistan as “the pride of Pakistan,” the Field Marshal said the province is endowed with immense natural resources and its patriotic, resilient and hardworking people remain its greatest strength.

He highlighted ongoing development initiatives by the federal and provincial governments, saying they are aimed at transforming Balochistan’s socio-economic landscape through a comprehensive, inclusive and people-centric approach.

Field Marshal Munir also praised the role of civil society, academia, the media and the youth in strengthening national integration and contributing to lasting peace and prosperity in Balochistan.

He underscored that national unity and perseverance are essential to shaping Pakistan’s future and overcoming the challenges facing the country.

The session concluded with a wide-ranging interaction, during which participants of the 20th National Workshop Balochistan reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan’s stability, progress and sovereignty, the ISPR said.
