A sessions court in Lahore has approved the pre-arrest bail of YouTuber Aroob Jatoi in a case related to the promotion of gambling apps, according to a written order issued by the court.
The court granted Aroob Jatoi pre-arrest bail against a surety bond of 100,000 Pakistani rupees ($357).
Additional and Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui issued the written decision after hearing arguments from the lawyers.
According to the order, Aroob Jatoi was not named in the initial first information report (FIR) but was implicated after the forensic report of co-accused Saad-ur-Rehman.
The court said the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCIA) failed to produce concrete evidence against Aroob Jatoi or establish her specific role in the case, adding that her mobile phone had not been subjected to forensic analysis.
The order noted that co-accused Saad-ur-Rehman had already been granted bail by the Lahore High Court and said the alleged role attributed to Aroob Jatoi was even less.
The court also said the NCIA failed to present any video showing Jatoi promoting gambling apps as evidence and that no citizen had accused him of cheating or encouraging gambling.
According to the written decision, neither the FIR nor the investigation conducted so far identified any witness. The court said that if Aroob Jatoi had any role in the case, it could only be determined after evidence is recorded during the trial.
