Pakistan’s armed forces on Wednesday extended Eid al-Azha greetings to the nation, and paid tribute to martyrs, saying the military remained committed to defending the country’s sovereignty and standing shoulder to shoulder with the people for lasting peace and stability.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu conveyed Eid al-Azha greetings to the people of Pakistan.
The military’s media wing said the armed forces paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistani citizens, martyrs, law enforcement personnel and all those safeguarding the country.
“The armed forces pray for enduring peace, national unity and stability,” the ISPR said.
The statement described Eid al-Azha as a symbol of sacrifice, faith and unity, adding that Pakistan’s armed forces remained steadfast in fulfilling their sacred duty to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“The armed forces stand shoulder to shoulder with the nation for peace and stability,” the ISPR added.
The military also paid special tribute to the families of martyrs, saying their unmatched sacrifices continued to strengthen the foundations of the country.
