Pakistani film and television star Mehwish Hayat has described performing the hit item song “Billi” as one of the best decisions of her career, revealing new details about her early journey into films.

The actress, who has recently returned to the spotlight following the success of the TV drama “Dayan”, spoke candidly about her professional journey during a recent interview.

Mehwish said moving from television dramas to films was a “big and bold” step that could have gone either way.

Recalling the filming of “Billi”, she said she was exhausted, physically injured and extremely nervous during the shoot. Despite the pressure, she remained confident about her “film face” — something veteran actor Javed Sheikh had previously pointed out to her during a drama shoot.

The actress said directors Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza approached her after seeing her performances and convinced her to take on the project.

“I did it, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made,” she said, adding that the filmmakers ensured the song was shot in a way that made it feel like an organic part of the film rather than a standalone dance number.

Actor Fahad Mustafa, who also appeared in the interview, shared a humorous incident from the shoot. He said the owner of the filming location became so engrossed in watching Mehwish perform that he accidentally fell from a height.

Fahad praised Mehwish as an exceptional performer, saying the audience’s reactions during the shoot reflected the energy and charisma of her performance.

Fans are now set to see Mehwish Hayat and Fahad Mustafa together in the upcoming horror-comedy film Zombied, scheduled for release on Eidul Azha this year.

Mehwish Hayat has previously starred in blockbuster Pakistani films, including “Punjab Nahi Jaungi”, “Actor in Law” and “London Nahi Jaunga”.
