Authorities have announced a public holiday in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday (April 11), citing heightened security arrangements ahead of US-Iran talks and the movement of foreign delegations.

According to official notifications, all public and private educational institutions, offices and businesses will remain closed in both cities, while essential services will continue to operate.

The Rawalpindi deputy commissioner’s office said the holiday was announced due to security and administrative requirements.

A similar notification was issued in Islamabad, with officials linking the decision to sensitive arrangements surrounding the high-level negotiations.

Officials said enhanced security measures were being implemented across the twin cities and urged citizens to cooperate with authorities during the period.

The holiday extends earlier closures on April 9 and 10, announced in connection with the talks scheduled in Islamabad. Authorities have also directed markets in Rawalpindi to remain closed on April 11 and 12.
