Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rains: 25 dead, dozens injured, homes destroyed

At least 25 people have died, and 77 others have been injured due to heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 25, according to a report by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The fatalities include 18 children, 5 women, and 2 men, while the injured comprise 35 children, 9 women, and 33 men.

The rains have damaged 88 houses, with 17 completely collapsed and 71 partially damaged.

Affected districts include Bannu, Abbottabad, Kohat, Peshawar, Nowshera, Bajaur, Lakki Marwat, Kurram, Hangu, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Upper Dir, Battagram, North Waziristan, and Tank.

PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and related agencies are actively engaged in relief operations.

Authorities have instructed districts to intensify efforts, provide immediate assistance to victims, and urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and visiting sensitive tourist areas.

Rains are predicted to continue until April 4, increasing the risk of further damage and casualties.
