Two cops injured in hand grenade attack in Peshawar

Two police constables were injured in a hand grenade attack by unidentified terrorists on a police checkpost in the Badaber area of Peshawar on Wednesday.

The Zangli checkpost was the target of the attack, where assailants hurled a hand grenade and fled.

The injured personnel were identified as Constables Shafiullah and Haibat.

Police officials said the injured cops were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for medical treatment.

Following the attack, police personnel retaliated with full force; however, the attackers managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

Later, SSP Operations Peshawar Farhan Khan visited the hospital and inquired after the injured constables.

He directed hospital authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical care.

He said that the security across the district had been placed on high alert, while checking at all entry and exit points had been further tightened to prevent any untoward incident.
