Kamran Tessori, the outgoing governor of Sindh, said he will continue speaking out on public issues and warned that he will not remain silent if politically targeted, as the federal government moves to replace him.

Speaking at an event in Karachi, Tessori said he was fully aware of who was behind the decision to remove him from the governor’s office.

“If you provoke us, we will not let it go. I know who removed me and on whose instructions,” he said.

The governor added that no one remains in office forever but insisted he had never served as a “silent or dummy governor.”

“When I assumed the office, I pledged to work for the sake of God and the people,” he said.

Tessori said he was ready to face consequences for speaking out on civic issues, particularly his stance on the Gul Plaza matter in Karachi. He maintained that highlighting public problems was his responsibility and that he would not retreat from that duty.

He also hinted at a new direction in his political career, saying his political journey was “just beginning” and that its future course would become clearer in the coming period.

Tessori added that welfare initiatives and youth-focused programmes launched during his tenure would continue so that more citizens could benefit.

During the event, he congratulated Nehal Hashmi of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on his appointment as the Sindh governor and urged him to expand ongoing initiatives.

The federal government has appointed Hashmi as the new governor of Sindh. President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the summary sent by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to sources, Sharif also met Hashmi and congratulated him on the appointment. The meeting discussed Sindh’s political situation and future plans, and was attended by senior leaders including Rana Sanaullah and Ishaq Dar.

Hashmi, a senior PML-N leader from Karachi, previously served as adviser on law, justice and human rights to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from 1997 to 1999.

He later held key party positions, including president of PML-N Karachi in 2012 and general secretary of the party in Sindh in 2014.
