Pakistan’s security forces responded immediately and effectively after Afghan Taliban fighters opened unprovoked fire along the Pakistan-Afghan border in the Torkham and Tirah sectors, an official said.
In a post on the social media platform X, Mosharraf Zaidi, the prime minister’s spokesperson for foreign media, said that retaliatory action by Pakistani forces successfully silenced the Taliban’s aggression and restored calm to the area.
Musharraf Zaidi stated that any further provocation would be met with an immediate and strong response.
The spokesperson said that Pakistan would continue to protect its citizens and guard its territorial integrity.
The Taliban firing comes days after Pakistan’s security forces carried out intelligence-based air strikes along the border with Afghanistan to destroy terrorist hideouts and camps.
