Noreen Niazi, sister of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, was injured after falling into an under-construction drain near Adiala Jail on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at the Dahgal checkpoint when she attempted to cross a partially constructed sewer line to reach the other side after police stopped her and other family members from proceeding towards the jail.
According to details, Noreen Niazi had arrived with her sisters and party workers to meet Imran Khan on a scheduled visitation day. Police denied them access and halted them at the checkpoint.
Witnesses said she slipped while trying to cross the drain and fell inside, sustaining minor injuries.
Another woman accompanying her also fell into the drain. Both were pulled out safely by people present at the scene.
PTI’s founder’s three sisters were present at the checkpoint but were not granted permission to proceed to Adiala Jail.
Following the denial of access, the sisters and PTI workers staged a sit-in at the site.
During the protest, police also served arrest warrants to Aleema Khan. The warrants had been issued by an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi.
