Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have raised concerns over the treatment of party founder Imran Khan at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), demanding that he be allowed access to his personal doctors and family members during medical check-ups and procedures.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said that he was informed about the PTI founder’s medical examination when it was already over.
He said the former prime minister was transferred from Adiala Jail to the PIMS without prior notice.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar Khan reiterated the party’s demand, which aligns with the wishes of Imran Khan’s family, that the former prime minister be shifted to Shifa International Hospital and that all medical examinations be conducted in the presence of his personal physicians and family members.
He added that the party was informed at 2am via a message that Imran Khan had been brought to the PIMS for an injection, stressing that no advance notice was provided.
“Our demand remains the same today: Imran Khan receive a complete check-up and treatment at Shifa International Hospital in the presence of his personal doctors and family,” he said.
Meanwhile, PTI Central Deputy Secretary Information Shaukat Yousafzai alleged that the government was concealing information regarding the former prime minister’s health.
In a video statement, he condemned the secretive night-time treatment, saying it had raised doubts and suspicions.
He criticised authorities for keeping Imran Khan’s family away from the treatment process and said the PTI have no trust in the government’s handling of his medical care.
Yousafzai called on the government to immediately allow Imran Khan’s personal physicians to monitor his treatment, emphasising that transparency and family involvement were essential for the former prime minister’s wellbeing.
