Munim Zafar to stage sit-in outside Sindh Assembly on 14th Feb

Munim Zafar, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, said his party will hold a sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly on 14th Feb to protest for what he described as the rights and problems of the people of Karachi.

Zafar said the party would stage the protest to press for the establishment of a ‘mega city government with authority’ and to demand answers from the government over governance issues in the city.

“The government should refrain from high-handed tactics. The sit-in will take place at any cost,” he said, adding that the announcement had created a ruckus in government circles.

He said the protest would mark the third phase of the party’s movement, following the Karachi march, and would focus on what he called 18 years of incompetence. He added that the government had failed to protect citizens’ lives and property.

Zafar said the struggle would continue until the problems of Karachi are resolved.
