The three-day Basant festival has officially begun in Lahore, with the IG Punjab directing the Lahore Police to remain alert and fully implement government SOPs to ensure public safety and order.
A zero-tolerance policy has been announced against aerial firing, weapons display, indecency, obscenity, and disturbances to public peace.
Police have been ordered to take strict action against the use of metal, chemicals, and prohibited strings, while kite flying remains banned near airports, air routes, sensitive installations, and other prohibited areas.
According to the CCPO Lahore, 13 SPs, 50 DSPs, 258 SHOs, and over 1,143 personnel have been deployed, with more than 10,000 officers and staff on duty across the city.
Checkpoints have been set up in red, yellow, and green zones, with patrols by Dolphin, Peru, and Elite Force ongoing.
Additionally, 1,300 traffic police personnel are on duty, and 44 motorcyclists have been arrested for failing to install safety rods.
Citizens are urged to follow the law and show responsibility to ensure a safe and pleasant Basant festival.
