Four bodies found in Karachi home, police suspect suicide

Four bodies, including that of a woman and three children, were found inside a house in the Ganna Mandi area of Karachi’s Sohrab Goth on Sunday, officials said, with police initially suspecting the case to be a suicide.

Rescue officials said the deceased included one adult woman and three minors.

The bodies were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination, while police launched an investigation.

Police identified the victims as 35-year-old Fatima and her children — 10-year-old Sonam, three-year-old Arzoo and two-year-old Arman.

According to officials, the woman was an Afghan national, while her husband, Najibullah, hails from Layyah in Punjab and works at the vegetable market.

Police said the husband has been taken into custody for questioning.

According to his initial statement, the incident followed a domestic dispute.

Authorities added that Najibullah had contracted a second marriage with the Afghan woman.

Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar took notice of the incident and contacted the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East for details.

He was informed that the case was being treated as a suspected suicide at the preliminary stage, though a final conclusion would be reached only after a thorough investigation.

The interior minister directed police to ensure a transparent investigation and said those responsible, if any, must be brought to justice.

Police said all aspects of the case were being examined.
