A fire broke out at a used clothing factory in Karachi’s Export Processing Zone (EPZ) on Monday, prompting a large-scale firefighting operation.
Rescue officials said the blaze erupted on the second floor of a private company’s factory located in the Landhi area.
All employees had already left the premises after working hours, and no casualties were reported.
Fire brigade officials said 13 fire tenders and two snorkels were deployed to contain the fire. Crews were working to bring the blaze under control as thick smoke continued to billow from the building.
Authorities said efforts were underway to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby facilities.
Earlier this month, a separate fire incident was reported at a garment factory in the same EPZ area.
That blaze was declared a third-degree fire, and the factory building collapsed due to its intensity.
The cause of Monday’s fire was not immediately known.
