Retired Justice Yar Mohammad took oath as the Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday in a simple but dignified ceremony held at the Governor House in Gilgit.
Governor Syed Mehdi Shah administered the oath. Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam attended the ceremony as a special guest, along with senior judges, political leaders, top civil administration officials and representatives of security agencies.
Participants congratulated the newly sworn-in caretaker chief minister and expressed hope that he would perform his duties with integrity and transparency during the interim period.
Retired Justice Yar Mohammad, who hails from District Astore, will lead the interim administration until elections to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly are held.
The transition follows Monday’s de-notification of all ministers, advisers, coordinators and special assistants to the chief minister.
