JUI leader injured in South Waziristan mosque explosion

An explosion took place in a mosque at Azam Warsak Bazaar in South Waziristan, resulting in injuries to several people, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) district chief Maulana Abdullah Nadeem.

Police reported that the blast occurred inside the mosque, with multiple injuries confirmed.

Authorities indicated that Abdullah Nadeem was among those hurt in the incident.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene following the explosion and initiated rescue operations.

DPO Lower Waziristan, Asif Bahadur, stated that the explosion took place in the Maulana Abdul Aziz Mosque, where a remote-controlled bomb was hidden near the mihrab. The blast occurred shortly before the prayer was scheduled to begin.

Bahadur noted that the attack specifically targeted JUI district chief Maulana Abdullah Nadeem. Currently, four individuals have been reported injured, and rescue efforts are continuing, with the wounded being transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana.
