Security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment after terrorists attempted to breach the area following Iftar.

According to security sources, six khawarij terrorists were eliminated at various entry points, preventing a major catastrophe.

Security officials reported that the attackers used two explosives-laden vehicles, which they crashed into the walls of the cantonment.

The impact of the blasts caused significant damage, including the partial destruction of a mosque and the collapse of a nearby house’s roof.

Authorities confirmed that while six terrorists were neutralised, others remain surrounded.

The targeting of innocent civilians and a mosque during Iftar in the holy month of Ramazan by the khawarij terrorists indicates that they have no connection to Islam, they added.

The security forces will continue the clearance operation until all insurgents are eliminated.

Barrister Saif added that the total number of martyrs is being determined and described the incident as deeply tragic.
