PMD forecasts further rise in cold and reduced rainfall

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted lower levels of rainfall and snowfall for the current winter season, with a rise in cold temperatures expected from the second week of January.

Cold weather has firmly established itself across the country, particularly in northern Balochistan, where severe conditions have caused water to freeze in streams and pipelines.

Residents in Ziarat, Quetta, and Qalat are facing challenges due to a decrease in gas pressure. In Karachi, cold winds have intensified the chill, while Lahore and much of Punjab are experiencing severe cold spells.

Additionally, snowfall in Murree has further contributed to the drop in temperatures, and intermittent snowfall continues in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
