Sindh govt shakes up bureaucracy after complaint from businessmen

In a significant shake-up, the Sindh government has dismissed several deputy commissioners, senior officials, and influential police station house officers (SHOs) in a crackdown prompted by complaints from business figures against bureaucratic corruption and inefficiency.

The move, announced in a series of notifications, saw five officials removed from their posts on a single day.

Among those removed are Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kemari Tahir Cheema, DC East Shahzad Abbasi, and DC Malir Irfan Salam. Chief Engineer Highways (Grade 20) Ayub Junejo was also dismissed, along with influential SHOs from Manghopir, Mauchko, Boat Basin, and Clifton.

Further actions included the removal of the Managing Director (MD) of Sindh Solid Waste Management, Imtiaz Shah, along with the DCs of Jacobabad and Tando Allahyar. The notification also stated that the Secretary of Municipalities, Khalid Haider Shah, has been given additional charge as MD Sindh Solid Waste Management. Secretary Land Utilization Zamir Abbasi and Director Anti-Encroachment Force Tariq Chandio were also dismissed.

The government simultaneously announced the appointments of Raja Tariq Hussain as DC Kemari, Ibrar Ahmed Jaffer as DC East, Salim Ullah Odho as DC Malir, and Noor Mustafa Laghari as DC Tando Allahyar.
