CDA urged to crack down on illegal commercial activities in Islamabad residential areas

Residents are calling on the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to take immediate action against the widespread violation of zoning regulations in Islamabad’s residential sectors. Numerous illegal commercial ventures, including hostels, clinics, and even international media houses, are operating within residential areas.

This surge in commercial activity is causing significant disruption, leading to increased traffic congestion, parking problems, and environmental concerns. The situation represents a clear breach of the CDA Ordinance 1960 and Islamabad Residential Sectors Zoning Regulations.

Critics point to the strict zoning enforcement in major global cities like London and Dubai as a model for Islamabad to emulate. They argue that Islamabad’s residents deserve the same level of protection and respect for their residential environments.

To address the issue, residents are demanding that the CDA conduct comprehensive surveys across all sectors to identify illegal commercial entities.

Residents have also demanded that CDA should immediately shut down all illegal businesses, regardless of their influence or connections and strictly enforce existing laws to maintain the livability and safety of residential zones.

A growing movement of concerned citizens is vowing to hold the CDA accountable for protecting their right to peaceful neighborhoods and urging swift action to restore Islamabad’s residential areas to their intended purpose.
