‘Disappointed’ by PTI leadership, Imran Khan plans major restructuring in party

Jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, “disillusioned” with the incumbent leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has decided to bring his old political team as part of his plans to make changes within the party.

Sources within the party told Aaj News that Musarrat Jamshed Cheema and Fawad Chaudhry are “likely to return to the party and receive important positions within the party” while Zartaj Gul and Ali Muhammad Khan are also expected to be given central roles.

Khan is dissatisfied with the incumbent leadership’s approach to the D-Chowk protest narrative, they said and added that the former prime minister expressed concerns that the leadership “failed to effectively manage” the protest movement or establish a coherent narrative.

After a report from his sister Aleema Khan, the PTI founder has resolved to make “substantial changes” within the party. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan has shown “discontent” with his position due to severe criticism.

The team reportedly has reservations about the return of the old team to the PTI. To accommodate the former members in central roles, a “transitional” setup would be created and their performance would be evaluated before making any permanent appointments.
