Russian actor Kamilla Belyatskaya died after being swept off a cliff by a massive wave while practising yoga in Thailand.
The incident occurred at the Lad Ko viewpoint on Koh Samui, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, leaving witnesses in shock and rescue teams struggling against difficult conditions.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media. The 24-year-old was on holiday with her boyfriend when the tragedy unfolded.
On Friday afternoon, while meditating on a pink yoga mat near the rocky shoreline, she was suddenly engulfed by a towering wave, as seen in alarming footage shared by local media. Despite a bystander’s brave attempt to save her, the turbulent waters proved overwhelming.
Rescue teams faced immense challenges as they arrived 15 minutes after the incident. With waves reaching up to nine feet, search efforts were severely hindered.

Chaiyaporn Subprasert, the Samui Rescue Centre head, reiterated that visitors are warned about dangerous conditions during the monsoon season. “We constantly alert tourists, especially in high-risk areas like Chaweng and Lamai beaches, where red flags signify no swimming,” he stated in an interview with Khaosad English.
In response to the tragedy, authorities have closed off access to the rocky areas below the viewpoint to prevent similar incidents.
