Fahad Mustafa rejects rumours of Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum sequel

Household name Fahad Mustafa has rejected rumours of a Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum sequel after the massive success of the drama, which ended earlier this month.

“There are no chances,” he said when asked about a potential follow-up featuring Mustafa and Sharjeena in a recent appearance on the talk show Haute Talk.

“I’m not that stupid. I didn’t take on this project just to make money. While I will earn significantly from it now, that wasn’t my motivation, so what’s the point of a sequel?”

The family drama ruled Pakistani television from its first episode in July. People loved Mustafa’s portrayal of a jobless gamer while transforming into a gaming expert and Hania Aamir’s portrayal of an obedient girl cruising her life after being ditched by her fiancé.

In view of its popularity, the final episode was shown in cinemas where a large number of people gathered to see it on the big screen. Not just Pakistan, but drama lovers from across the border and region also liked the drama.

This might be the reason legendary actor Javed Sheikh said: “Entire nations of Pakistan and India were captivated by the love story of Sharjeena and Mustafa.”

Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum marked Mustafa’s return to television dramas, but he quickly dismissed the idea of it being a “comeback,” emphasising that he has remained active in films and as a host on his TV show.

Mustafa, who has risen to fame with films like Na Maloom Afraad, Actor in Law, Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2, and Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad shared insights on the unique challenge of portraying a character named Mustafa on television, where subtlety is key.

Love story of Sharjeena and Mustafa captivated Pakistan, India: Javed Sheikh

“I’ve become a household name. Everyone knows me, and the name Fahad Mustafa has become quite prominent. Other actors even joke about being called by my name instead of their own,” he said with a laugh.

“But the true accomplishment for me is that people remember me as Mustafa, the character from Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. That’s a testament to strong character development and storytelling.”
