An exchange of gunfire occurred between the Organized Crime Unit and armed robbers in Model Town, Lahore, resulting in the death of notorious shooter and hired assassin Azam Khan. He was reportedly killed by his own accomplices during the incident.
The police were transporting Khan to the Kahna police station for the arrest of his associates when unidentified assailants opened fire in a bid to rescue him.
Khan was severely injured by gunfire from his gang but ultimately succumbed to his wounds while being taken to the hospital.
Khan had a criminal record for serious offenses including murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of weapons. He was known for injuring and killing civilians for small sums of money.
According to a DSP, Khan had fled to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after committing murder. Fortunately, police personnel were unharmed during the attack.
Other accomplices managed to escape amid the chaos, and a search operation is currently underway in the area to apprehend them.
