A Lahore Sessions Court has granted interim bail to senior analyst and PTI leader Ayaz Amir until November 4 in two cases related to the spread of fake news concerning an alleged incident at a private college.
The court heard petitions for interim bail filed by Amir in response to cases registered by the police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding the alleged dissemination of false information about the incident at the private college.
The court granted bail on surety bonds of Rs50,000 and summoned the prosecution to present its arguments.
Additional Sessions Judge Suleman Ghumman presided over the hearing. Ayaz Amir appeared in court personally.
His lawyer argued that a fake Twitter account was created in Amir’s name and that his client had no connection to the account or the spread of false news. The court adjourned the hearing until November 4th.
