A prisoner managed to escape from Malir Jail by cutting open a bathroom window and using a bedsheet as a makeshift rope to scale the wall.
According to jail authorities, Muhammad Javed, who was serving time for a rape conviction in barrack number 5, executed the escape on October 21.
Following the incident, law enforcement took swift action, arresting seven jail staff members from the Shah Latif area.
Authorities are preparing to file negligence and carelessness charges related to the escape, and a case is being recommended against Javed as well as eight on-duty jail personnel.
