Ban on meetings in Adiala Jail extended for two days

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders planned to meet with party chairman Imran Khan at Adiala Jail on Saturday. However, the ban on meetings in the jail was extended by two days.

PTI Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that jail authorities have denied permission for Salman Akram Raja to visit.

However, Akram confirmed that he will meet Imran Khan at 12:30 PM along with Barrister Gohar. Ali Zafar and Asad Qaisar have also been cleared to visit.

According to Sheikh Waqas, Barrister Gohar has indicated that the entire group will not enter the jail until all members are cleared for the visit.

The 10-day ban on visits at Central Jail Adiala ended today, bringing hope to over 8,000 prisoners and detainees that they would be able to meet their loved ones as usual.

The Punjab Home Department had imposed this ban due to security threats, causing distress for the families of inmates. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Islamabad also led authorities to implement heightened security measures in the twin cities, including Adiala Jail. During the ban, jail officials increased security protocols.

According to jail sources, the Punjab Home Department enforced the ban starting October 8, affecting all types of visits, including those of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and over 8,000 prisoners currently in jail.
