The University of Karachi has conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree on renowned Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik during a special convocation ceremony held at the Sindh Governor’s House.
The award was presented by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who is also the chancellor of the university, recognizing Dr. Naik’s contributions to Islam.
Dr. Naik is currently visiting Pakistan as a state guest, invited by the government.
His stay, which will last until October 28, includes public gatherings in various cities.
He has already addressed audiences in Karachi and is scheduled to speak in Lahore and Islamabad on October 12-13 and October 19-20, respectively.
At the ceremony, Governor Tessori praised Dr. Naik for his successful participation in numerous debates on Islamic topics and expressed hope that he would continue his mission to promote Islam with dedication.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including consul generals from different countries and senior officials from the Sindh Higher Education Commission and the University of Karachi.
The honorary doctorate was approved following a special meeting of the university’s Syndicate, acknowledging Dr. Naik’s significant contributions to the field of Islamic Studies.
