A husband has murdered his estranged wife with an axe following a failed reconciliation attempt in Pakpattan.
The victim, identified as Hamira Bibi, had returned to her parental home six months ago after a dispute with her husband, Shahzad.
Shahzad visited her in-laws’ house, seeking to persuade her to return home. However, Hamira refused to accompany him.
In a fit of rage over her rejection, Shahzad allegedly broke into the house late at night and attacked her with an axe, inflicting multiple fatal wounds. After committing the crime, he fled the scene.
The police have since registered a case and launched an investigation, while Hamira’s body has been sent for an autopsy.
