Street crime claims life of man in Karachi

Karachi has experienced yet another tragic incident of street crime, as a man was shot dead while resisting a robbery in Surjani Town, Sector 36.

The victim, identified as Faisal, was attacked by armed robbers attempting to steal his motorbike.

According to reports from Geo News, Faisal was shot after he refused to surrender to the assailants. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Faisal’s brother, who was with him at the time, shared that they had just finished their shifts at a factory and were heading home with their salaries when they were confronted by the robbers.

In addition to the motorbike, the criminals also stole Rs80,000 from the brothers before fleeing the scene.

Faisal’s father expressed deep sorrow over the incident, emphasizing that robberies have become a frequent occurrence in their area.

The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) reported over 50,000 street crime incidents in Karachi from January to August this year, with many more likely unreported.

The statistics indicate that an average of 208 crimes are reported daily, with mobile phones, cars, and motorbikes being the most commonly targeted items.

Alarmingly, nearly 100 individuals have lost their lives to street criminals this year, with almost 500 others injured by gunfire in these incidents.
