CM, governor at odds over vice chancellor appointments in Punjab

Tensions have escalated between the Governor of Punjab and the Chief Minister of Punjab concerning the appointment of vice chancellors at various universities.

The Governor’s House has returned the summary of vice-chancellors submitted by the Chief Minister’s Office, raising objections to the recommendations. Sources reveal that the Chief Minister’s Office had proposed the appointment of 13 vice-chancellors.

Meanwhile, the Education Department has already appointed 7 vice chancellors. The Chief Minister’s Office retains the option to submit 3 additional names for consideration.

Officials from the Governor’s House have expressed concerns that merit was not adequately considered in the selection process.
