Celebrations on Eid Milad-un-Nabi are often aimed to be bigger and better than ever before. Every year in Rabi-ul-Awwl, people in Pakistan try to be as grand as possible in their acts of commemorating the prophet’s birth.
This year’s Eid Milad-un-Nabi was no different, with several food preparations making headlines. Here are three that caught our eye:
In Karachi’s Gulbahar, people particiapting in the procession are being served ‘Balochi Biryani’ as niaz.
Preparation for the biryani begins at 8am and continues late into the night.
Shahzad, the man in charge of the preparation, said that he wanted to do something special for Rabi-ul-Awwal. He also claimed that the Balochi Biryani is not found anywhere else in Pakistan.
In Nakyal, Azad Kashmir, a man celebrated 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal by cutting a 24-feet cake.
The man has been preparing the cake for many years and serves it at the starting point of the main procession in the city.
Aab-e-Zamzam and other sweets are also served with the cake.
Meanwhile in Mandi Bahauddin, participants in the city’s main procession will be served with milkshake prepared from 6,000 kgs of mangoes.
Another, 2,000 kg of starwberry juice will also be available in the sabeel’s along the procession’s route.
The local businessman says he stocks the fruits many months in advance and hopes to keep making it until he lives.
