A Pakistani student pursuing a master’s degree in business administration in Houston, Dania Zaheer likely to undergo surgery today after suffering severe injuries from a hit-and-run incident.
The accident left her with multiple broken bones, including a fractured pelvis, arm, femur, hip, skull, and eye socket, as well as fluid in her lungs.
Witnesses reported that the driver involved in the accident did not check on Zaheer after hitting her and fleeing the scene. The Houston Police Department is currently investigating the incident but has no leads on the perpetrator, despite having a witness who observed the event.
In response to the situation, the Consul General of Pakistan, Aftab Chaudhary, along with former federal minister Babar Ghauri, visited Zaheer in the hospital to offer their support.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has also expressed concern, directing the consul general in Texas to assist Zaheer and her family. Dar stated that if her family wishes to travel to Houston, the government will facilitate their visit, assuring Zaheer that she is not alone during this difficult time.
