Dania Shah, the widow of late Pakistani TV personality Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain, and her new husband, Hakeem Shahzad Ahmed, are seeking government protection after receiving serious threats.
The couple has filed a petition in the Multan High Court, claiming they have been receiving threatening calls from international numbers demanding that Shahzad divorce Dania or face fatal consequences.
Despite reporting the threats to authorities and requesting security, they have yet to receive any official protection.
The petition highlights the severity of the threats, particularly in light of Dania’s previous marriage to Dr. Liaquat Hussain, who tragically passed away earlier this year.
The couple has expressed their willingness to cover the costs of their own security measures.
Justice Asim Hafeez, presiding over the case, has ordered the Deputy Commissioner and CPO Multan to respond to the petition by September 17th, addressing the couple’s request for protection.
Dania Shah publicly confirmed her marriage to Shahzad, a lawyer, last month. The couple’s wedding celebrations were followed by the unsettling threats, forcing them to seek legal and governmental intervention to ensure their safety.
