The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) will convene a meeting on September 13th to review the rules governing the appointment of judges to High Courts across the country.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has also written to the Chief Justices of all High Courts, requesting nominations for potential High Court judges.
The JCP meeting, chaired by CJP Isa, will be attended by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and other members. The meeting will focus on reviewing the existing rules for judge appointments.
In his letter to the High Court Chief Justices, CJP Isa emphasized the need for immediate nominations from High Courts with more than five vacant positions.
He also highlighted the recent completion of the Supreme Court bench after a two-and-a-half-year delay, and the activation of the Shariat Appellate Bench on July 29th.
“The paramount object is to nominate the best possible candidates,” CJP Isa wrote.
