Lahore High Court directs police to recover ‘missing’ YouTuber Aun Ali by Aug 20

The Lahore High Court has instructed the provincial police to recover YouTuber Aun Ali Khosa, who was reportedly “taken into custody by unidentified armed men,” by August 20.

This urgent order follows a petition filed by Aun’s wife, Binish Iqbal, claiming her husband is being held unlawfully by law enforcement agencies. In her petition, Binish expressed concern for Aun’s safety, fearing he may be a victim of enforced disappearance.

Justice Shahbaz Ali Rizvi presided over the hearing and mandated that the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) present Aun in court by the specified date.

In response, Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General Operations, Faisal Kamran, stated that no formal complaint regarding Aun’s alleged abduction had been filed, but emphasized that the police would take action as soon as a complaint is received.

Aun Ali went viral on social media for his satirical song “Bill Bill Pakistan” about exorbitant electricity bills during Independence Day.

On Thursday, his brother Ali Sher Khosa informed the people about the alleged incident. He claimed that armed men took Aun from their Lahore apartment in the middle of the night.

He urged users to pray for his brother’s safe return and to share the news widely, emphasising its importance for their family.
