The police have claimed to have recovered the vehicle used in the murder of PTI leader Dr Shahid Siddique, saying that it was rented and had a fake number plate.
At the time of the incident, they stated that the vehicle had a fake number plate, but the suspects changed it to the original number plate after leaving the crime scene.
Dr Siddique, the owner of Iqra Medical Complex in Johar Town, was shot and killed last week as he was leaving a mosque in the city’s Valencia Town area after Friday prayers. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
In a twist, the victim’s son Qayyum admitted to hiring hitmen to assassinate his father.
Earlier this week, the police claimed to have traced three suspects in the murder. It has been revealed that all three accused are “related to each other.”
The vehicle was allegedly rented in the name of Shehnaaz, the mother of the prime suspect Shehryar. Shehnaaz’s husband Sajjad had asked her to provide the vehicle and one of Shehnaaz’s nephews brought the car and handed it over to him.

The vehicle was rented for three days from a car rental company in Vehari, but the owner has not received the rental payment yet, according to the police.
The main suspects, Shehryar, his father Sajjad, and his uncle Shahid, are still at large while the police have arrested five suspects, including the victim’s son Qayyum.
The deal for Siddique’s murder was allegedly finalised for Rs160 million and the prime suspect had “received Rs16.75 million.”
