In a meeting with the army chief, the Masjid-i-Nabvi (PBUH) imam lauded Pakistan’s role in the Muslim world and maintaining regional peace.
“Pakistan has a significant place in the Muslim world,” Dr Salah bin Mohammad Al-Budair was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations on Friday. “It is playing its vital role for peace and stability in the region.”
He called on Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters, Rawalpindi.
According to the military’s media wing, matters of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting. The COAS welcomed the dignitary and highlighted that visit by the Masjid-i-Nabvi imam to Pakistan “is a matter of honour for the people of Pakistan.”
Both sides expressed satisfaction with Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations. The Masjid-i-Nabvi imam prayed for the “peace, stability and unity of Muslim Ummah.”

Imam Al-Budair landed in Pakistan on Thursday. He met with President Asif Ali Zardari and Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani.
Earlier in the day, he also visited the National Assembly where Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq welcomed him and said the visit was a moment of “joy and blessing”.
Sadiq said the Prophet’s Mosque held a special status for millions of Muslims worldwide and added that his visit was a manifestation of the “stable and historic ties” between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The visiting dignitary expressed his happiness for the warm welcome and said that the sincerity and love he received in Pakistan were “unforgettable”. He also appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting unity among Muslim countries and establishing lasting peace in the region.
