A German cyclist was robbed at gunpoint near Lahore airport on Saturday. He was allegedly assaulted by robbers who were on a motorcycle.
Florian Berg had set up his tent on a piece of meadow near the street when two unidentified men ambushed him.
The incident occurred around 1:30 am on Saturday morning, according to the FIR filed at the North Cantonment police station. The complaint was registered under Section 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The suspects rummaged through 27-year-old tourist’s bag despite his claims that he had no cash on him. When the German tourist tried to escape, the robbers caught up with him and stole his belongings, including a camera, AirPods, mobile phone, power bank, and Rs5,000 in cash.
The FIR further states that the suspects also physically assaulted Berg during the ordeal. The daring robbery took place just a stone’s throw away from the North Cantonment police station, raising questions about the security measures in the area.
