Businessman Zulfiqar Ahmad returned home in Lahore on Sunday after abduction in Karachi four days ago, police said.
“Zulfiqar Ahmed has reached his home in Lahore,” DIG South Asad Raza said in a statement.
Earlier, the prominent businessman’s lawyer told a private news channel that his client had contacted his family.
Ahmad was abducted from the Maripur Road area of Karachi on July 23, according to his family. He was reportedly on his way to Clifton with his friend, Qaisar, after a meeting when they were stopped by eight individuals in a double-cabin vehicle. The abductors forced them into their vehicle and drove away.
After driving a short distance, the abductors released Qaisar, who then informed Zulfiqar’s family about the incident.
According to reports, police had refused to register the case, forcing the family to approach the Sindh High Court, which ordered the police to file the case on Friday.
The police confirmed that a case under Section 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) of the Pakistan Penal Code had been registered at the Gulistan-e-Jauhar Police Station.
