Unknown assailants fired upon a police checkpoint in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday, but all police personnel remained unharmed.
According to police, the attack was thwarted by retaliatory fire, forcing the attackers to flee. The incident resulted in damage to a thermal camera at the checkpoint.
DIG Imran Shahid visited the checkpoint and met with the officers, commending their swift response to the attack.
The incident comes a day after a terrorist attack on a health center in Dera Ismail Khan, which resulted in the deaths of five civilians and a soldier.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists carried out attack on the Rural Health Center in Kari Shamoozai, Dera Ismail Khan, firing indiscriminately at the staff, killing two female health workers, two children, and a watchman.
This latest attack follows a suicide attack on Bannu Cantonment on July 15, which claimed the lives of eight Pakistan Army soldiers. Ten terrorists were killed in the ensuing retaliation.
