Lahore Police have initiated the implementation of a comprehensive security plan for Muharram-ul-Haram, the Islamic month of mourning.
A police spokesperson revealed that 457 Category A, 2,610 Category B, and 801 Category C Majalis (religious gatherings) will be held in the city.
The spokesperson further stated that 17 Category A, 74 Category B, and 3 Category C processions will be held with licenses, while 87 Category A, 234 Category B, and 43 Category C processions will be held without licenses.
Over 11,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed for security duty during the ten days of Muharram-ul-Haram.
CCPO Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, assured that full security will be provided to all Majalis and processions during Muharram. Special arrangements will be made for the security of mourning processions and Majalis, with supervisory officers present in the field to oversee the checking of processions and gatherings.

The CCPO further stated that the routes of Muharram processions will be monitored round-the-clock through CCTV cameras, and strict adherence to security SOPs will be ensured.
The head of Lahore Police has instructed the continuation of search and sweep operations for security purposes and has ordered comprehensive arrangements for maintaining smooth traffic flow.
