Imagine what a doctored image can do to celebrities’ fans when they are going through a difficult patch of their life. This happened with supporters of Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and cricketer Mohammed Shami last week.
The widely shared image on X showing the two Indian sports celebrities in wedding attire is actually a morphed version of Sania’s original wedding photo with her former husband, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik from April 2010. The two recently confirmed their divorce.
The picture surfaced on social media on June 12.
It merits here to mention that neither Mirza nor Shami has confirmed or denied such reports and the marriage rumours remain unsubstantiated.
Fans of both Mirza and Shami are eagerly awaiting any official updates from the sports icons. The speculation began earlier this year when news of Sania’s divorce from Malik emerged, following the latter’s marriage to Pakistani actress Sana Javed.
