Going against state interests will be met with firm response, Ahsan Iqbal tells PTI

Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has issued a stern warning to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), urging them to differentiate between state and politics. He stated that any attempt to manipulate state interests for political gain will be met with a firm response.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Iqbal asserted that the state should always be prioritized over political interests, emphasizing the need for a clear distinction between the two. He criticized the PTI’s recent actions, accusing them of launching campaigns against institutions for personal gain and employing “trolling” tactics to achieve their political objectives.

Iqbal highlighted the strong Pakistan-China friendship, emphasizing that the relationship is “higher than the stars.” He pointed to the joint declaration issued during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to China, but criticized the PTI for spreading propaganda that seeks to undermine the bilateral ties.

He accused the PTI of attempting to create the impression that relations between Pakistan and China have deteriorated, despite the recent launch of Pakistan’s MM-1 satellite with Chinese assistance and China’s commitment to the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also emphasized Pakistan’s willingness to move forward with an upgraded version of CPEC.

Iqbal further criticized the PTI for their actions during Eid ul-Adha, claiming that while the nation was offering sacrifices, the party was sacrificing state interests. He stated that the PTI has mastered the art of “trolling,” using it to influence judicial decisions, control opponents, and advance their political agenda. He denounced this approach as neither democratic nor constructive.

Iqbal concluded by reiterating his message to the PTI, warning them that they will face a strong response if they continue to manipulate state interests for political gain.

He asserted that while politics may fluctuate, the state remains a shared entity, and the PTI’s actions are unacceptable. He also stated that he and his party have faced imprisonment for their political beliefs but never targeted the state for political gain.
