The police have arrested a man and marriage registrar in Jand town, Attock for formalising the “fraudulent marriage” of an underage runaway girl.
According to a police spokesman, citizen Muhammad Hussain reported to Jand Police that his 13-year-old granddaughter had been abducted by an unindentified person.
Police found the girl’s location using human and digital intelligence. In investigation, they found that the marriage contract was fake.
The girl was underage, rendering the nikah illegal under Pakistani law.
Further investigations are underway by police.
