A startling new report has revealed how Dubai’s real estate market is a storage vault for the world’s dirty money. The list includes names of multiple Pakistanis including former President Pervez Musharraf and current President Asif Ali Zardari.
The report, titled ‘How Dirty Money Finds a Home in Dubai Real Estate’, has been published by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project and gives a detailed account of how Dubai became a safe haven for money from all over the world.
The report was developed over a period of six months by journalists from 74 different organisations in 58 different countries.
It has revealed that Pakistanis are the second largest nationality owning properties in Pakistan, with total properties coming to $11 billion.
A total of 17,000 Pakistanis own 23,000 different properties in Pakistan.

It mentions two properties belonging to Asif Zardari’s family and one property belonging to Pervez Musharraf.
In addition, the report also mentions Pakistanis named Roshan Hussain and Hussain Zahoor.
The report also mentions Obaid Khanani, a Pakistani national who, along with his father, was sanctioned by the U.S. in 2016 for allegedly running a money laundering organization that has moved billions of dollars across the globe on behalf of drug traffickers and organized crime groups.
The report also mentions that Faisal Vawda, wife of Mohsin Naqvi, Hussain Nawaz, Sharjeel Memon as well multiple members of the Sindh and Balochistan Assemblies.
Over a dozen bureaucrats as well as a diplomat and a police chiefs are also included in the list.
