Flight operations disrupted after fire breaks out at Lahore airport

Flight operations, especially international flights, were temporarily disrupted at the Allama Iqbal International Airport after a fire broke out.

Flights “may experience delays, cancellations, or rescheduling” due to the issue, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson stated in a statement.

Passengers have been advised to contact the airlines they are travelling to before departing for the airport. The spokesperson stressed the need for communicating with the airlines prior to airport arrival.

“Swift efforts are under way by the airport authorities to restore civil aviation flight operations as soon as possible,” according to the spokesperson.

The statement added that ensuring the safety and well-being of travellers remains their “top priority”.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted the CAA spokesperson as saying that the immigration system maintenance time at the Lahore airport has been extended till 10:00pm.

The Lahore airport was available for domestic and cargo operations as usual, the CAA spokesperson claimed.
